High Quality Egress Marking Tape
OVERVIEW
Heskins new egress glow in the dark marking tape, much like our current egress marking tape, is a smooth photoluminescent tape used for demarcation in buildings, particularly areas subjected to power outs. The base film is impregnated with a photoluminescent powder, charged by natural or artificial light. Once external light goes out, the egress tape is activated, and glows brightly.
Egress tape is intended for application on areas that are not exposed to foot traffic, as to not cause degradation to the surface. Routes are marked out with egress tape by applying it to skirting boards, door frames and handles.
What separates our high quality glow in the dark egress tape from our regular egress is the strength and amount of time it glows for after lights out. High quality egress tape is available in two versions, H8154 ( super ) and H8152 ( premium ). The difference between these two versions can be discovered in their classifications.
DIN 67510 and ISO standards have led to the classification of photoluminescent materials into four main classes A, B, C & D.
These classes categorise photoluminescent materials into their luminance, which is expressed in millicandelas per square metre (mcd/m2 ). To help put it into perspective, a candle emits light at a measurement of roughly 1 candela, and there are 1000 millicandela in a candela. Photoluminescent materials are classed based on what it initially emits at and how long it takes to get to 0.32 mcd/m2 (the level at which light can no longer be seen by the human eye ).
For Heskins high quality glow in the dark egress tape, 8152 ( premium ) is our best performer, with a C classification, which means from first activation, it will take 1800 minutes ( 30 hours ) to reach 0.32 mcd/m2. For 8154 ( super ) this has an A classification, and will take approximately 450 minutes ( 7.5 hours ) to reach 0.32 mcd/m2.
As can be seen, premium 8152 glow in the dark egress tape emits light for significantly longer. Super 8154 is still a very efficient glow in the dark material, and we offer both of these new, high quality glow in the dark egress marking tapes to suit different requirements, at different prices.
Both are available in various roll sizes ranging from 15mm up to 1220mm. Off the shelf roll lengths are 15 metres, but on request we can create rolls up to 50 metres in length.
